On 11 April 2020, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) issued guidance regarding operational considerations during the COVID-19 pandemic. These instructions include assignment of beyond use dates, certifications, and cleaning/disinfecting. The Joint Commission (TJC) has issued declared that "(o)rganizations may utilize these guidelines and remain in compliance with Joint Commission standards until the state of emergency has been lifted at the regional, state or national level."
