Have You Evaluated Your Patient Care Contracts?

This article begins to highlight the need for effective contract performance documentation and evaluation. You must place specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely (SMART) key performance indicators (KPIs) in your contracts in order to fully and accurately evaluate contractors. Then when performance is questioned, you have sound documentation of performance or lack thereof. It is simply not enough for a contract evaluation to state, "They were here" "They did a good job". You should include qualitative and/or quantitative data in your evaluation.

If you are a Joint Commission deemed facility, refer to LD.04.03.09 : Care, treatment, and services provided through contractual agreement are provided safely and effectively.
