Joint Commission Medication Titration Prepublication Standard

The Joint Commission has issued a prepublication standard note effective September 13, 2020 to RC.02.01.01, EP 2. This note will allow "block charting" for medications that must be rapidly titrated. The organization must have a definitive policy to include the urgent/emergent situation and the acceptable form of documentation. The definition for block charting is noted in the pre-publication standard. Also, each single block of documentation may not exceed four hours. Also, MM.04.01.01, EP 2 will have revisions to include the six titration elements. Please see the pre-publication links below.
